Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 for an Olympic contest. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics trainer who later became her coach later in life, discovered her at age six. Her first competition was in The National Junior Championships in which she was 13th place in the year 1969. In 1970, she took home the title. In her 1972 first international meet in a preolympics junior competition that was open to countries of the communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. And in 1973 and 1975, she won crowned all-around Junior Champion. At her first competition as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold and one silver medal. She was the first female ever to successfully perform a backwards double salto when dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. The story of Carol Wayne into the realm of entertainment began in her teens. With her twin sister Nina Wayne, she joined the traveling entertainment show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6, 1942, at Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her entertainment career in her teens. She started her career performing figure skating along with Nina Wayne, her younger sister in one of the touring entertainment shows Ice Capades. Ice Capades featured performances of ice-skating by actors.
